Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 September 2026.
Anne de Silva, ABN 26 512 465 914 (“I”, “me” or “my”), operates the website annedesilva.com.au (“the Website”). The domains annedesilva.com and annedesilva.au redirect to this Website.
I respect your privacy and am committed to handling personal information carefully and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and, where applicable, NSW health privacy laws.
This policy explains how information collected through the Website is managed. It applies to website visitors, enquiries, email subscriptions and requests for downloadable resources.
It does not cover clinical records or information collected as part of providing psychotherapy to a client. Those matters are addressed through separate practice, privacy and informed-consent documentation.
Personal information is information that identifies you or could reasonably identify you. Sensitive information is a type of personal information that is subject to additional protections and includes health information.
1. Information I collect and how
Depending on how you use the Website, I may collect your name, email address, telephone number, the type of enquiry you are making, information you include in a message or email, and your email-subscription preferences.
I may also collect information needed to send you a downloadable resource and technical information about how the Website is used, such as browser or device information, pages viewed, general location and Website interactions.
This information may be collected when you submit a form, contact me by email, request a resource, subscribe to emails or interact with the Website. Some technical information is collected automatically through Squarespace, cookies and analytics services.
You can browse most of the Website without directly identifying yourself. The Website does not currently process online bookings or payments.
Professional social media
My professional social-media accounts are not intended for sharing sensitive or therapy-related information. If you interact with me through a social-media platform, information you provide is also subject to that platform’s privacy practices. Any personal information I receive will be handled in line with my privacy obligations.
2. Sensitive information in enquiries
The Website contact form includes an open message field, so you may choose to share sensitive information about your health, emotional wellbeing or personal circumstances. Please keep initial enquiries brief and avoid including detailed health, trauma or other sensitive information. The form is for initial enquiries only and is not monitored for urgent or crisis support.
Any sensitive information you provide will be used only as needed to respond to or follow up on your enquiry, or to meet a legal or professional obligation. It will not be used for general marketing without your consent.
3. How I use your information
I may use information collected through the Website to:
respond to enquiries and arrange an introductory conversation
provide information or a downloadable resource you have requested
send occasional emails where you have consented to receive them
manage mailing preferences and unsubscribe requests
maintain, secure and improve the Website
understand how the Website is used
meet legal, regulatory or professional obligations
respond to privacy or security concerns.
I do not sell or rent personal information.
4. Emails and downloadable resources
To receive a downloadable resource, you’ll be asked to provide your email address and consent to receive occasional emails from me. The sign-up form will make this clear before you submit your details.
Emails may include resources and content, information about groups or workshops, events and relevant practice updates.
You can unsubscribe at any time using an unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting hello@annedesilva.com.au.
5. Service providers and disclosure
I use third-party providers to operate the Website and related communications. These include Squarespace for website hosting, contact forms and downloadable resources; Google for professional email; Google Analytics for website-usage information; and website development or technical support where needed.
These providers may have access to personal information where needed to provide their services. A website developer may also have administrator access to the Website but is not authorised to use personal information for their own purposes.
I may also disclose personal information with your consent, where required or authorised by law, or where otherwise permitted by law to investigate fraud, misuse or a security incident, or obtain professional or legal advice.
6. Processing outside NSW and Australia
Squarespace, Google and other service providers may store or process information outside NSW or Australia, including in the United States and other countries in which they or their service providers operate.
Where this involves disclosure of personal information to an overseas recipient, or the transfer of health information outside NSW, I take reasonable steps to ensure that the disclosure or transfer complies with applicable privacy requirements.
7. Cookies and analytics
The Website uses Squarespace Analytics and Google Analytics. These tools may use cookies to collect technical information about how the Website is used. This helps me understand and improve the Website.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
8. Storage and security
Contact-form submissions are sent to my professional Google-hosted email inbox and retained in Squarespace.
Details submitted to request a downloadable resource are processed and stored through Squarespace.
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including using reputable service providers, password-protected accounts and secure website connections. No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If a data breach occurs, I will take reasonable steps to investigate and respond, including any notifications required by law.
9. Retention and deletion
I keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the reason it was collected, or to meet legal and professional obligations.
If you unsubscribe, I may keep a limited record of your email address so that your preference can be respected.
If an enquiry leads to a therapist–client relationship, relevant information may be transferred to a separate client record. It will then be managed under the privacy and recordkeeping arrangements for my psychotherapy practice.
Information that is no longer needed will be deleted or de-identified where appropriate and permitted by law.
10. Access and correction
You can ask what personal information I hold about you, request access to it or ask for inaccurate information to be corrected. You can also ask for website or mailing-list information to be deleted where it no longer needs to be kept.
Requests can be made by emailing hello@annedesilva.com.au.
I may need to confirm your identity first. In some circumstances, access or deletion may be limited or refused where permitted or required by law.
11. People under 18
The Website and downloadable resources are intended for adults and are not directed towards people under 18.
I do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the Website. If I become aware that information has been submitted by a person under 18, I will take reasonable steps to manage or delete it as appropriate.
12. External links and third-party resources
The Website may link to third-party websites, services or resources. When you follow an external link, that third party’s own terms, privacy policy and information-handling practices apply.
This Privacy Policy does not cover personal information you provide directly to another website or provider.
13. Privacy concerns and complaints
If you have a question about this policy or are concerned about how your personal information has been handled, please email hello@annedesilva.com.au.
I will consider your concern and respond within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with my response, you may be able to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). For matters involving health information under NSW law, you may also be able to contact the Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC NSW).
14. Changes to this policy
I may update this Privacy Policy when the Website, its services, its providers or applicable requirements change.
The current version will be published on the Website with its updated effective date.
